The Youth Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training program was created as a result of an 18-month review of regional workforce needs in Washington County.
Through analysis of job outlook data and current career & technical education programs in Washington County, and with collaborative feedback from Washington County district Superintendents and CTE Leaders, we proposed Commercial Driver’s Licensure as an industry credential opportunity.
With financial support from our industry partners, we have been able to provide training for up to 23 students in Washington County in year one. Nine students will complete the full training and earn their CDL Class A License. Additionally, 14 students will leave training with a CDL Permit and will be ready to start the next level of training or find employer-sponsored training.
