NWRESD’s TBI Liaison coordinates with district TBI team members to build capacity within school districts to serve students with brain injury. The liaison is available to provide consultation with educators, parents and students around Concussion Management, Return to Learn, Section 504 / IEP Development, and Special Education Evaluation.

Are you an education professional in Clatsop, Columbia, Tillamook, or Washington County (Region 8) who is passionate about supporting students with traumatic brain injuries and concussions? We invite you to join our regional TBI team and help make a meaningful difference in the lives of these students!

Team members represent a wide range of roles, including District Nurse, School Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Special Education Teacher, and more! 

Team Member Benefits:

Member Requirements:

• Education professional in Region 8
• Supervisor approval
• Minimum of 5 hours of TBI-related training each year (In-person sessions, virtual trainings, recorded webinars, or readings)
• New members are encouraged to complete an onboarding training
• Members are encouraged to submit data, as they are able

While we encourage active participation, attending every meeting is not required—we welcome your involvement at any level!

New Member Registration

• Ensure that all students have access to a Brain Injury Management Team to assess needs, implement supports, and monitor recovery through ongoing collaboration with families.
• Follow the Oregon Department of Education’s (ODE) procedures and use the Immediate Temporary Accommodations Plan (ITAP) form;
• Immediately implement physical activity restrictions as determined by the brain injury management team; and
• Implement the ITAP within 10 school days of receiving written medical documentation of a brain injury.
