We are always seeking candidates to join our board equity policy advisory committee. This committee was established in 2020 through Board Resolution 20-001 (Equity Policy - ADA).

What does the Board Equity Policy Advisory Committee do? 

The committee provides racial equity-focused policy and practice revisions and recommendations to NWRESD's board of directors. These recommendations typically address topics related to discrimination, racism and prejudice with the goal of creating a more antiracist, multicultural organization. 

Members of the committee are essential for helping guide the district as we strive to meet the needs of our diverse students.

Who can join? 

The board is interested in having a diverse committee that includes people from varied backgrounds, perspectives and experiences. People who:

  • bring knowledge, experience and relationships that reflect the diversity of NWRESD’s service area community,
  • have a strong interest in educational equity issues,
  • can engage in the process of institutional change related to equity and antiracism, and
  • have experiences across multiple dimensions of diversity are encouraged to apply. 

How much time do I need to commit?

This is typically a 4-5-hour per month commitment. 

This committee meets virtually from 4-5:30 p.m. the third Tuesday of every month during the school year. 

Who is part of this committee? 

The Board Equity Policy Advisory Committee is composed of a mix of NWRESD board members, NWRESD staff and community volunteers.
