This page provides an overview of the organization- and department-wide opportunities for families to get involved and provide input about our programs and services. Each opportunity has a slightly different application process. Check the individual pages for details about how to apply.

If you can't participate in one of these but would still like to get involved, please check with your child's service provider or teacher about individual- or school-level opportunities.

Board Equity Policy Advisory Committee (BEPAC)

We are always seeking candidates to join our Board Equity Policy Advisory Committee. This committee was established in 2020 through Board Resolution 20-001 (Equity Policy - ADA)

The committee provides racial equity-focused policy and practice revisions and recommendations to NWRESD's board of directors. These recommendations typically address topics related to discrimination, racism and prejudice with the goal of creating a more antiracist, multicultural organization.

Early Learning Advisory Council (ELAC)

The Early Learning Advisory Council brings together families, professionals, and community partners to ensure early intervention services meet the needs of all children and families.

We advise, advocate and collaborate on state, local and individual levels to maximize each child’s unique potential and ability to participate in society. We work to improve the quality of life, according to each family’s value system. The ELAC is the local interagency advisory council for Clatsop, Columbia, Tillamook and Washington counties.

Parent Advisory Committee (PAC)

We established our Parent Advisory Committee in 2023 to offer an affinity space for parents and caregivers of children experiencing disabilities and delays. We heard from many families that parenting a child with a disability is isolating and at times overwhelming.

We created this group to help connect families to each other and to help lighten the load. Members also provide valuable input on how we can strengthen and improve our programs and services.

Regional Advisory Council (RAC)

We are always seeking members for our Regional Inclusive Services Advisory Council. This council helps set priorities for our region and advocates for full funding from the Oregon legislature.

Regional Inclusive Services help students with complex disabilities such as blindness, autism and orthopedic impairment to have inclusive educational experiences. Services are provided via a state grant that ensures equitable services to students in every region of the state. NWRESD’s Regional Inclusive Services program serves approximately 3,000 students from birth to age 21.
