Meadowlark Academy is a NWRESD Social Emotional Learning (SEL) School program serving kindergarten through fifth (K-5) grade students located in St. Helens, OR.  The program supports students with significant social emotional behavior and mental health needs in the context of positive behavior intervention support (PBIS). The teaching staff are certified Special Education Teachers working in collaboration with a Behavior Support Team and Instructional Assistants serving students aligned to core academic instruction and specially designed instruction.

NWRESD opened a K-5 SEL Classroom (SELC) program serving students within St. Helens School District at the start of the 2024/2025 school year.  On December 2, 2024 NWRESD opened their K-2 SEL Intensive Classroom (SELI) program serving students across Columbia County from St. Helens, Scappoose, Vernonia, Rainier and Clatskanie school districts.  NWRESD will expand the SELI program to be a continuum of K-5 support for elementary level students requiring this level of special education services.

Behavior and mental health specialists assist with program planning and parent communication and collaborate with outside mental health service providers.

Students are referred to Meadowlark Academy by their local school districts.
