We're excited to provide support for our districts through a regional mentorship program. This program will be in partnership with the New Teacher Center, our Instructional Coaching Network, and our Northwest Regional Educator Network. Mentoring is vital to providing new educators with the support needed to be successful in their journey and to help to retain these educators.

Will events be recorded?
All virtual sessions will be recorded and made available to participants. However, in-person events and training sessions will not be recorded. Register on PDNetworks for all of our events. PDUs are available for all attendees.
Is there a stipend for mentors?
Yes. Every partial release mentor (classroom teachers who are mentors) will receive a stipend for their work. They will be required to sign a contract and must commit to attending all eight sessions of professional development led by New Teacher Center. They will also have to log 180 minutes per month of 1:1 contact time with their mentee. Partial release mentors are recommended to have only one mentee per year. The amount of the stipend is to be determined each year, and it is not per mentee.

All reimbursements and stipends are sent to the individual districts. Participants do not receive reimbursements directly from the NWRESD.
Will NWRESD pay for mileage?
Yes. NWRESD will reimburse for all in-person events.

Will NWRESD pay for substitute time?
Yes. NWRESD will reimburse participating school districts for their substitute costs associated with this program for both in-person and virtual events.
Will the district pay for the High Quality Professional Development?
Yes. Our program partners with the New Teacher Center to provide high-quality professional development for all mentors and instructional coaches from the component districts in our region. Participation is free for all mentors and coaches from our 20 component districts.
What is the time commitment for district mentors?
The New Teacher Center asks that mentors spend at least 180 minutes (3 hours) a month, or roughly 45 minutes a week with their mentees for mentoring to be impactful and make positive growth for their mentees. Our program is committed to giving each new teacher as much time as they need to be successful in their skills and instructional practices. Our team will check in on mentors regularly and coach them as needed.
