Portland Community College Education Course Open to Aspiring Educators
The course is free and open to anyone in the community who hopes to become a teacher. The class will be held online from 6:30-7:50 p.m. on Mondays starting March 31.

Coastal Teachers Gain STEAM Skills at Clatsop Make 'N Take Event
Teachers gathered at Clatsop Community College on Feb. 1 to learn makerspace practices like 3D printing, vinyl cutting and cardboard prototyping. The Northwest STEM Hub and Portland Community College's STEAM Spaces team helped teachers understand how making can integrate into any subject.

Monmouth-Based Educator Tapped to Lead Early Learning Programs in Columbia County
Jessica “Jessie” Padilla, an assistant principal at Ash Creek Elementary School in Monmouth, Oregon, has been named the next principal of our early learning programs in Columbia County. The programs provide Early Intervention and Early Childhood Special Education services to about 300 families.

It’s the Stories That Matter: Learn How to Connect with Lawmakers
Ralene Whitlock of St. Helens knows firsthand the importance of special education. Her son, now 22, started receiving special education services in kindergarten. She teared up as she shared about the day he got his driver’s license. She says it was his lifelong dream to get behind the wheel.

After Years of Chronic Underfunding, Regional Inclusive Services Takes the Spotlight
The program provides services for students who experience autism, are blind or visually impaired, are deaf or hard of hearing, are deafblind, have traumatic brain injuries or have an orthopedic impairment. Student numbers have surged 40% in recent years, but funding has not kept pace.
