A student with a suspected case of head lice may be referred to designated trained staff for a screening. The screening will be done in a confidential manner by trained personnel.
School personnel will notify the parent or guardian of a student found with head lice and may provide information on treatment. Culturally responsive informational resources on effective treatment and prevention strategies will be provided in the student’s home language. The student will be allowed to remain in school.
Suggested school measures for head lice provided in Communicable Disease Guidance for Schools issued by the Oregon Department of Education, the Oregon Health Authority, and national public health organizations will be consulted.
