Committees divide governing responsibilities into manageable categories, enabling board members to understand topics in greater detail. The committee process improves the quality of regular board meetings and board decision-making. It also builds expertise among board members and forms connections between the board of directors and the larger organization.

Committees and assignments are determined annually by the board at the summer work session.

The Board Equity Policy Advisory Committee makes recommendations to the board focused on racial equity in policies and practices to address matters related to discrimination, racism or prejudice and promotes ideas of organizational antiracism. In an ongoing effort to increase communication with the public and to provide for citizen involvement, the board appoints advisory committees, which include community members to consider matters of ESD-wide importance. This committee meets virtually from 4-5:30 p.m. the third Wednesday of every month during the school year.
