Misty Wharton portraitMisty Wharton will serve as Director of Workforce Development focused on rural counties. She joined our team in September as an Interim Special Projects Administrator.

"Misty has moved swiftly to expand career, college, and workforce pathways, with an emphasis on increasing access for rural students," says Superintendent Dan Goldman. "She is a highly effective educator that's garnered a significant amount of respect from superintendents in the region."

Misty brings 24 years of experience in teaching and leadership, most recently serving nine years as superintendent of the Nestucca Valley School District. Her work has included securing over $65 million in capital funding, earning $14 million in grants, and leading statewide education organizations.

Her portfolio will focus on expanding hands-on, career-connected learning in areas such as welding, health sciences, forestry, agriculture, engineering, and culinary arts — programs that significantly increase graduation rates and postsecondary readiness.
