Oregon Response to Instruction & Intervention Annual Spring Conference

April 15-17 | Eugene, OR

More students are reading proficiently in the Vernonia School District after educators there adopted evidence-based early literacy practices and started making data-based decisions about student instruction.

Join us at one of the West Coast's largest early literacy professional learning events!

Learn alongside nearly 50 early literacy experts as they guide you through how to build systems and classroom routines that deliver real, measurable results. This conference centers evidence-based literacy instruction for all learners, with practical strategies you can take straight back to your schools and classrooms.

Session topics include how to:

  • Build effective, evidence-aligned literacy instruction in the classroom
  • Scale strong early literacy systems across schools and districts
  • Support multilingual learners
  • Meet the needs of students with dyslexia and other learning differences
  • Use multi-tiered systems of support to sustain and strengthen implementation

This conference is designed for elementary teachers, instructional coaches, literacy specialists and administrators. Book early — this conference will sell out.

Our specialists offer professional learning tailored to your content area and level. We offer workshops, on-site coaching and yearlong collaboratives in MtSS, literacy, instructional coaching, mentoring, positive behavior supports, attendance, social emotional systems and more.

📖 Paid Reading Tutors Needed in Vernonia

We are seeking paid tutors for a new after-school tutoring program in Vernonia.

Tutors will support students in kindergarten through third grade with reading and writing in small-group settings. Ideal candidates are patient, reliable and enthusiastic, with strong reading and writing skills and an interest in working with young learners. Education students, community members and retirees are all encouraged to apply.

Program Details

  • Paid positions (rates vary by education and experience level) three afternoons per week for 10 weeks 
  • Sessions will typically take place from 3–4 p.m.
  • Curriculum, materials and paid training provided

This program — Vernonia Village — is a partnership between NWRESD’s Early Learning Hub, the Vernonia School District and Camp Cedar Ridge. The project is funded by an early literacy success grant from the Oregon Department of Education.
