Last year, more than 8,500 fifth and sixth graders from around our region attended outdoor school at one of our five locations in northwest Oregon.
Students and parents often ask us what the experience will be like.
Will my child miss me too much and want to come home?
What will they spend their time doing?
How will they stay warm?
These are all common questions we get from families preparing for the experience.
Oregon State University Extension Service, which coordinates the program for the state of Oregon, recently produced a video that follows two students from Conestoga Middle School in Beaverton as they attend outdoor school.
The video offers a first-hand look at what happens during a typical outdoor school week -- rain and all!
Follow Leah and Audrey as they embark on an experience that many students later say is the highlight of their middle school years. Meet the teachers who accompany them, the high school leaders who volunteer to guide them and the staff who lead our program.
