G Bundy, a professional learning coach at Northwest Regional Education Service District, was recently featured by KATU for his career and college readiness work with districts.
G helps school districts
expand their career and college readiness offerings. He said these types of career and technical education programs -- which include welding, forestry, fishery technologies, natural resource management, culinary arts and more -- have enthusiastic students who graduate at much higher rates than students who do not participate in these types of classes.
The rates can be as high as 97% or 98%, and he says it’s crucial for schools to keep up with the demand for these types of classes. He was interviewed alongside Sherwood High School welding and agricultural instructor Allison Meadows, who says more kids are signing up for her classes than ever before.
