SUMMARY:Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
DESCRIPTION:
We’re offering a summer session for one of our most in-demand suicide intervention trainings. ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) is being offered this August -- a great opportunity for administrators and other school staff who have limited opportunities to be away from their buildings when school is in session.

As part of Adi's Act plans, most school districts now require suicide intervention training for staff in key roles, including administrators, school counselors, school social workers, and school psychologists. Take this opportunity to meet those requirements without disrupting the school day and ensure that staff are equipped with life-saving intervention skills before students return.

Community partners, including first responders, mental health providers, and others who support youth in crisis, are also invited to attend! If you’ve been meaning to get trained or need a refresher (Oregon's recommended frequency is every 3 years), see below for more information and a link to register.

ASIST is an in-depth, two-day workshop that teaches participants to recognize when someone may have thoughts of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety using LivingWorks’ evidence-based Pathway for Assisting Life (PAL) model.

Register for ASIST.

Additional training opportunities for the 2025-26 school year in mental health, suicide prevention and intervention, behavior safety assessment, sexual incident response, crisis and tragedy response, and more will be updated in early August.
