How to Conduct Empathy Interviews: Introductory Training

  • Date: 11/09/2022 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM

Educators in Clatsop, Columbia, Tillamook and Washington counties are invited to attend a free, introductory training on how to conduct an empathy interview. Participants will learn how to conduct an empathy interview and why they are effective at helping educators understand the experiences of students, families and community members. By asking purposeful, focused questions, interviews can reveal student or community needs that demand attention, help educators learn about root causes of problems, and surface community priorities.

The training will be held virtually from 3-4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9.

Staff from Community Design Partners will lead the training.

Captions will be provided. If you need additional accommodations to attend, please email Renae Iversen at least five days before the event.

Empathy interviews are a human-centered method to hear stories and experiences from people most impacted by systems in order to better solve problems. It is critical that team members embody the values and mindsets that are foundational to the practice as well as understand the logistics to carry them out. This training provides essential training for teams or individuals as they begin empathy interviews or seek to improve an existing practice. Learn more about empathy interviews.
