Through open communication and collaboration with families and districts, Columbia Academy works to foster an environment in which students can achieve academic, social and emotional growth by building and maintaining positive relationships, allowing students to return to a less restrictive environment.
About Columbia Academy
Columbia Academy serves kindergarten through fifth grade students who have lagging skills in the areas of emotion and self-regulation, cognitive flexibility and social thinking. We operate two classrooms and employ a behavior specialist to support our program, and we also have a lower staff-to-student ratio. Our staff use strategies from Collaborative Problem-Solving (CPS), Trauma-Informed Practices and Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) to create a safe environment for students to learn. Students have access to academic content areas at their grade levels. Columbia opened its doors at the beginning of the 2018-19 school year.
